Lindy’s passion and talent is designing and creating original contemporary cakes. Her cake repertoire includes wedding cakes, celebration cakes, cupcakes and cookies. A prolific cake designer Lindy teaches others how to create these inspirational cakes, generously sharing her designs and technical knowledge. Well known, and highly respected in the ‘Sugarcraft’ industry, Lindy has over 20 years experience in cake decorating. Lindy has a huge following across the globe, as well as her incredibly loyal UK following. Her fan-base reaches as far as Asia, the Americas, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the pacific rim countries, she is a truly international face of sugarcrafting. How Lindy established herself in the cake world
Lindy was inspired by her own wedding cake to take her first steps towards establishing herself as a ‘name’ in the cake world. From the humble beginnings of her own kitchen, where she experimented with the techniques she had picked up, she took her first steps to launching what has become an incredibly successful career.
With the knowledge that sugarcrafting allowed her to express her unique ideas and originality, by 1997 she was entering international shows and going home laden with gold medals. Spurred on by her success at the British Sugarcraft Guild’s International Exhibition, she continued entering competitions, setting new standards along the way.
A year later, Lindy started writing features for Cakes and Sugarcraft Magazine, and continues to have articles featured in Wedding Cakes – a Design Source and other bridal magazines such as Wedding Ideas.
With solid television experience, she has appeared on The Generation Game, BBC Good Food Live, CBBC’s Exchange Show and The Icing on the Cake. She has also worked with an independent production company to produce two DVDs which are constantly in demand.
Her first cake decorating book, Hobby Cakes was published in 2000 and she has continued to write books ever since, becoming more and more creative with each new title. Eleven books later, Lindy continues to be at the cutting edge of sugarcrafting and her latest title The Contemporary Cake Decorating Bible is said by many to be her best yet.

Lindy’s Cakes is a multi-faceted business that Lindy runs along with her husband Graham and their team, from premises in South Shropshire, England. The company operates a hugely successful online shop selling a wide variety of sugarcraft and cake decorating equipment including Lindy’s own cake decorating books, her DVDs and her own brand of sugarcraft cutters, cookie cutters and culinary cake stencils.
Lindy’s Cakes also run regular one day workshops covering all aspects of Lindy’s work and, together with overseas partners, organises Lindy’s overseas teaching trips. Teaching is an area of her business that Lindy loves, particularly as these classes attract students from all over the UK and abroad.
Lindy’s Team also assist Lindy staying in touch with her fans through the Lindy’s Cakes blog, Twitter and Facebook pages, as well as dealing with their direct questions via email and telephone.
